Reborn, MINO Craft

How is the vessel made and how is it born?
We have many processes, some exclusively manual and others fully automated manufacturing systems.

In the Mino Ceramic Ware region, the entire process from raw materials (potter’s clay) to product shipment can be completed.
In this region, the four cities of Mizunami, Toki, Tajimi, and Kani have a council called Ceramic Valley, and in order to develop the industry in this region, division of labor and cooperation that takes advantage of each city’s characteristics are being conducted.
This region, which is not only a manufacturing center but also a trading company, is equipped not only with the function of manufacturing, but also with the function of selling and conveying the attractiveness of the products.
Production Process
Clay is born.
Clay is produced in myriad quantities/types using the rich raw materials of our region and the history of this Tokai Lake. Various clays are chosen for different manufacturing processes and finished products.

wedging
This is an important process for removing air.
This process can also be done by hand or automated, or by a variety of other methods. There are also processes such as making from material powder.

Molding Method
This is one of the points where the characteristics are very different. There are countless methods of shaping, such as hand shaping and electric wheel turning, and they are one of the characteristics.

Bisque
The material is fired once before applying color or painting.

Decoration . Glazing
Decoration is applied to unglazed dishes.Glazes produce a myriad of colors and textures. We apply these glazes to unglazed pieces. The process varies and includes applying color with a brush.

Firing
Glazed/decorated pieces are again placed in the kiln for main firing. There are various firing methods at temperatures ranging from 800 to 1300 degrees Celsius, and the temperature varies depending on what is being made and how it is decorated. These temperatures cause the clay to harden and the glaze to melt, creating a chemical bond between the clay and the glaze, resulting in pottery that does not spill out when water is added.
